I was born in 1953 in the parish of Duddeston Mill, Birmingham.

I left school in 1970 and started out as an apprentice to a firm of shop-fitters.  For a period I worked as a sign writer and then joined the Inland Revenue as a temporary measure whilst I looked for more suitable employment where I could use my talents as a painter.

In fact, it was some eighteen years later aged thirty seven when I took the plunge and, supported by my wife left the Revenue and started painting professionally.

I am totally self taught and would like to consider myself a natural artist.

My interests include the Roman Empire, old films, table-top war gaming and sailing ships of the 19th century.

As you will see from the work available from other areas on this site, I am quite versatile, primarily working in oils on canvas

I have gained a good reputation in the area of producing nostalgic street scenes from the turn of the 19th century. My work can be seen in the form of many jigsaw puzzles, primarily from Gibson’s Games and Falcon jigsaws.  My most recent work has been related to the ‘Sharpe Appreciation Society’; the official fan club of the award winning TV series of films starring Sean Bean. I have also been commissioned many times for private work usually working from photographs for the convenience of the customer. I have recently moved to Northumberland and spend much of my leisure time walking my two retired Greyhounds Spike and Tess.
