Garry and the Sharpe Appreciation Society
The Sharpe Appreciation
Society is the official fan club of the award winning TV series and Garry has
been a member since 1999. Also since 2004 he and his wife Julie are very much involved
in helping the Sharp ‘Roadshow’ appearing
around the Country when he can be seen selling his Sharpe prints. Below are pieces of artwork produced in
relation to the society which can be purchased here or via the SAS Roadshow or
on the website – www.southessex.co.uk.

The ‘Bean’
Picture
With the kind permission of Mr. Bernard
Cornwell and with the co-operation and support of Christine Clarke (secretary
of the SAS) this print was produced as a Limited Edition of 1000 from the
original work. The image size is approximately 27” x 18” and on the finest
quality paper.
Most of the characters chosen were in at
least two episodes and include the “chosen men” and all Sharpe’s women (plus
Bernard Cornwell!).
Garry began the painting as a treat for
himself (in between paying work!) but after both Chris Clarke and Bernard
Cornwell had seen and approved the picture it was decided that it may appeal to
all the members of the society, and is now available generally.

‘Credits’ Picture
Garry
has produced this copy of the original picture at the suggestion of Chris
Clarke due to its popularity and is now available as a Limited Edition of only
500. The image size is approximately 26” x 17” and attracted much attention at
the 2004 Convention where it was approved of by such members as Mr. Muir
Sutherland and Malcolm Craddock (producers of the TV series) and Mr. Tom Clegg
the Director. The picture is known as the “Credits Picture” as it is used at
the beginning of every episode of the series.

The original painting took three and a half months to paint and is
140cm x102cm (55” x 40”). The print image size is 60cm x 44cm (approx 24” x
17.5”) or ‘Jumbo Size’ 102cm x 72cm
(40” x 28.5”). |
